PROSTHODONTICS AND CROWN & BRIDGE


Prosthodontics is a branch of Dentistry which facilitates artificial replacement of missing teeth. Department of Prosthodontics is involved in teaching all five years of Under Graduate as well as Post Graduate students.  There are 18 Teaching faculty with 5 Professors,  5 Readers, 5 Lecturers. Among the Faculty 3 have been awarded Ph.D Degree. Under Graduate Teaching programmes comprise teaching Science of Dental Materials and Pre-clinical Prosthodontics for I and II B.D.S. students, III & Final year students training includes clinical & Non-clinical programme in Removable Partial & complete Denture, Fixed Partial Dentures, introduction to Endoseous and Maxillofacial Prosthodontics .

The Department was headed by the Founder Dean, Prof.(Dr.) N. Sridhar Shetty  up to 2007 followed by Prof.(Dr.) Krishna Prasad D. till 2015 and currently by Prof.(Dr.) Chethan Hegde.

Department of Prosthodontics has annual Post Graduate in take of 9 students.  Till date 221 students have perused Post Graduate Degree. The department is  well equipped with  clinical and Laboratory facilities like CAD/CAM, Fully Adjustable Articulator, Lazer Welding Machine. It also houses TMJ clinic dedicated to treating patient with neuromuscular pain related to TMD. Department of Prosthodontics in collaboration with department of Implantology provides wide range of treatment options in replacing missing teeth with Implant Supported Prosthesis. The department was graced by some of the best Teachers in the field of Prosthodontics namely, Late Prof.(Dr.) E.G.R. Solomon, Prof. (Dr.) Mehroo P. Turner, Prof.(Dr.) N. Sridhar Shetty and  Prof.(Dr.) Porus Turner.

Department of Prosthodontics has established itself as centre for renowned interest in the field of occlusion, TMJ disorders, full mouth rehabilitation, Implant supported Prosthesis and Maxillofacial Prosthodontics
