Interdisciplinary skill development and training program for the Interns

The Dental Education Unit (ABSMIDS), in association with Nitte Usha Institute of Dental Sciences (NUINS), conducted an interdisciplinary skill development and training program for the Interns on 22nd, 23rd and 24th of January 2024.

Ms. Shivika Duggal, Intern (ABSMIDS) was the Master of ceremony for the event.

The Inauguration ceremony began at 09.30 am with a prayer song followed by lighting of the lamp by all the dignitaries.

Prof (Dr.) US Krishna Nayak, Principal ABSMIDS, addressed the gathering and spoke about the importance of conducting such interdisciplinary programs and how they benefit the students.

Prof (Dr) Sabitha Nayak, (Guest) Vice Principal, NUINS also spoke about the importance of developing such skills for the students. Prof (Dr) Sabitha Nayak was presented with a token of appreciation by Prof. (Dr) U.S Krishna Nayak and Prof (Dr) Rahul Bhandary presented a token of appreciation to Prof. (Dr) U.S Krishna Nayak.

The certificates for the resource persons were given by Prof. (Dr) U.S Krishna Nayak, Principal and Dean, ABSMIDS. Lastly to conclude the inaugural function, vote of thanks was delivered.

During the session 1, Mrs. Cleeta Anline Pinto gave a lecture on needle stick injury between 10:00 am to 10:45 am. This was followed by a short break. The next session started with a lecture by Mr. Chetan on injection administration techniques (IV,IM,SC) from 11:00 am TO 11:45 am and canulation technique was covered by Mrs. Reeta Priya Dcosta from 11:50 am to 12:30 pm. The last session on blood withdrawal was conducted by Mr. Chetan from 12:30 pm till 1:15 pm with demonstrations on all topics.

Post lunch session started at 2pm with demonstrations on the mannequins conducted by each student and post graduate student till 4pm.

There was a group discussion about using these techniques in real life scenario which covered each case in detail.
